Hitchcock Not Calling Time Out Just Yet

Like it or not, Ken Hitchcock will be back behind the Blues bench for the 2016/2017 season. The Blues signed him to a one year deal and Hitchcock confirmed that it will be his last year as an NHL coach. The 64 year old has been behind the Blues bench for five seasons and it is his 20th year in the league. Under Hitchcock, St. Louis has finished first or second in the Central every season. He's fourth in NHL history with 757 regular-season wins.

Under Hitchcock, the Blues earned 107 points last season, eliminated the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks and the Central Division champion Dallas Stars in the playoffs. While the Blues had their most successful run in the playoffs in decades, there were clear signs of trouble throughout much of the season and into the playoffs. Some of that seemed to fall on the coaches struggled to adapt when a strategy, that once worked, was beginning to weaken.

Next season Hitchcock will have a new coaching staff under him and hopefully the new chemistry there may spark some change in how Hitchcock adapts to an ever changing game.
